How to create openSUSE Live USB from Windows
In order to get up and running with openSUSE, you will need FAT32 formatted USB Pendrive and openSUSE Installation image.
Step 1Format the Pendrive
Formatting a Pendrive quite easy with Windows, but ensure that while formatting your Pendrive FAT32 File System is selected.
Step 2Download SUSE Studio Image Writer
Download from this link.
Step 3Before you Flash the Pendrive
Change File Extension of openSUSE Installation image from .iso to .raw by adding .raw at the end of the file name.
Note: If your file extension doesn’t change then first change your folder option settings from control panel.
Open Control Pane > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options > View tab,
and then Uncheck “Hide extensions of known file types” checkbox,
Step 4Flash the Pendrive
- Open ImageWriter.exe (If your PC ask for administration permissions, then click on yes to grant permissions.),
- Click on the Select button, and locate your openSUSE image .raw file and Open it,
- Make sure your Pendrive is selected in drop-down menu,
- Finally click on Copy button.
- If you get an error, then re-open ImageWriter.exe with administration permissions.
- If you still get an error, then End “explorer.exe” process from Task Manager.
